The World Health Organization (WHO) is calling the H7N9 now developing in China one of the "most lethal" because it seems to be infecting people much more easily than previously know bird flu strains.
So far we are at 108 cases and 23 fatalities. That about a 21% mortality rate. What concerns scientists and health professionals is that this strain of bird flu seems to be developing much more quickly than the H5N1 strain that caused such concern.
We are not yet at human-to-human transmition, so we'll just cotninue to keep and eye on this one along with the SARS-like coronavirus.
