Are you prepared with the pandemic flu supplies needed when the eventual pandemic arrives? Experience shows these supplies evaporate quickly as soon as the pandemic starts to spread.
Advance preparation is the key to all emergency preparedness.
The latest report says the sea level is rising 60% faster than previously thought. This means a greater frequency of severe storms with damaging surges like Hurricane Sandy. Are you prepared to deal with these new realities?
The newly released study indicates that ice sheets in Antarctica nad Greenland are disappearing three times faster than they were just two decades ago.
The study, published in the journal Science, is thought to be an extremely accurate analysis of polar region ice melts. The study indicates that the rapid polar ice melt has caused an increase in sea level that is expected to pose problems in low coastal regions. These rising sea levels pose the greatest danger because they make it more liekly for storms to cause massive flooding.
Among the alarming findings is that ice in Greenland is melting at a rate five times what it was in the 1990s. Melt from Greenland accounts for two-thirds of the polar ice melt.
Remember this is a study just of how the ice has melted and is melting in polar regions. For those still worried about the existence of glabal warming or it's causes, it's time to quit worrying about that and just accept the fact that the ice is melting and the seas are rising. Oh, and cigarettes do indeed kill you. Those who fight against such data are very clearly finding themselves on a shrinking island of thought (pun fully intended). It's time to accept reality, recognize the risks, and paln for the possibilities.
The bottom line is that we are going to see greater and greater damage from storms such as Sandy. Though there is much data from other studies that indicates that the frequency of such large storms will also increase, you can leave that aside and still have cause for concern. Those who live in costal regions must be increasing prepared for tyhe catastrophies that this seas level rise will make more prevelent.
Its time for all of us to be prepared to deal with disasters. They are becoming an increasing fact of life in our day. Make sure that you are prepared for any emergecny or disaster by having an emergency kit and supplies and making other preparations.
And if your friends and family are not yet prepared, emergency kits make a great holiday gift. We are getting many orders each day from folks responding to recent events such as Hurricane Sandy by buying emergency kits for everyone on their list this holiday season. Many employers are making an emergency kit their employee gift at their holiday party.
